Dear Comrades

         The sacrifices of our nation’s warfighters are honored and remembered annually on Memorial Day, a time when all Americans salute our veterans who have sacrificed so much to protect our freedom and preserve our way of life.  No organization understands this importance more than the DAV, who stand shoulder to shoulder and provide world-class support year round to our joint warfighters. 

This year marks the 239th anniversary of this solemn yet pride-filled holiday, which will be observed on May 28, and nationally recognized May 30.

As we pay tribute to the selfless service of those who have given so much to our great country, it’s important to keep those serving in the Global War on Terror in our thoughts and prayers.  Every day, our Nation’s finest men and women, are placing it all on the line and serving with distinction overseas.

As Americans, we can celebrate our veterans and recognize their sacrifices knowing we, as an organization of more than 1,000,000 + members, are making direct and valuable contributions by striving to reach our vision of being the “Best in the World
at What We Do” and providing “Superior Performance to those who served.”  In our way, we are in the fight in helping determine "no one is left behind."  

I encourage you to participate in the National Moment of Remembrance at 3 p.m. local time
on May 30, and I thank our membership for your continued commitment to excellence in achieving our vision and organizational objectives. Our dedicated efforts in delivering world-class support to the Heroes of our Armed Forces are truly making a difference.
