Stuart L. Hansen, a service-connected disabled veteran was elected Commander of the Georgia Muscogee Chapter 7 in June 2004.
A native of California, Commander Hansen earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Columbus State University. He is also a graduate of the U. S. Army Special Forces and Ranger Schools.
Commander Hansen retired after 20 years of service with the U. S. Army in 1992. His 20-year military career included wartime service in Grenada, Panama, Desert Shield and Desert Storm.
Commander Hansen joined the DAV in 1994. He is a life member of the DAV Muscogee Chapter 7 where he has held the office of Adjutant and continues to serve veterans as a Certified Service Officer handling over fifty veteran VA claims per month.
Following military retirement, Commander Hansen served as a State Department Corrections Officer and Supervisor, and numerous full-time volunteer positions in the Columbus, Georgia area.
The Father of four grown children, Commander Hansen and his wife continue to reside in the Columbus area.
